The puppies did very well considering the long time spent kenneled in the truck (in the back seat) but were very restless when it was time to go to sleep in the motel. After an hour of crying, the last one finally succombed and we were able to get a good night's sleep.

I have heard from all of the new puppy families who already have their dogs and they are all doing well. Tandoori is now called Wilson and is enjoying his new family of young boys, cats and mom and dad. Mango is now Gin Ginz, and settling in well with her new parents. I have gotten pix from Mango and Bombay's families already and will post them up tomorrow. Still waiting to hear what Lis and Mike are calling B, it was between a couple of Peanuts-inspired names last I heard, since their first dog is named Lucy.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.daintreeducktollers.com/progress/2008/11/30/nearing-end-of-week-6.html"><rss:title>Nearing end of week 6</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.daintreeducktollers.com/progress/2008/11/30/nearing-end-of-week-6.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

I got a little behind on the updating, but it's only because the pups have taken up more time lately. They are all emerging as different personalities and each one needs time and attention to themselves. They are no longer just 'the puppies'.

Fiesty ones include Bhindi, Tikka, Bombay and sometimes Mango. Sweeter than apple pie ones include Chai, Vindaloo, and Tandoori. Even-tempered and go with the flow are Bombay and Rogan Josh.

Curry is still nursing them once or twice a day, usually only in exchange for stealing their meals or treats from them while they rush over to see her. She growls and nips at them when they go at her too hard or without manners.

They are actively playing with all of their toys, mostly by chewing and occasionally as a tug-toy.

Poop is now happening almost exclusively in the litter-box area. This is one of thei major accomplishments, in my opinion.

Most of their day is spent awake now, playing, eating, running around the kitchen when allowed, and even embarking out into the yard when the weather is nice enough.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.daintreeducktollers.com/progress/2008/11/12/end-of-week-4.html"><rss:title>End of Week 4</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.daintreeducktollers.com/progress/2008/11/12/end-of-week-4.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

A few major developments this week:

sneezing

playing with toys (gnawing, mostly)

walking/running around

asking to get out of the kiddie pool to explore

really responding well to being petted and cuddled

complete front teeth including canines, plus emergence of rear molars

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.daintreeducktollers.com/progress/2008/11/4/end-of-week-3.html"><rss:title>end of week 3</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.daintreeducktollers.com/progress/2008/11/4/end-of-week-3.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Progress this week includes:

all puppies walking more confidently and without falling over (much)

able to climb onto a cushioned dog bed and off again

tiny little teeth starting to poke through the gums on most

growling and playing

ability to scratch their own ears with hind legs

sleeping in a curled position

interest in food (so far just sniffing, licking and sucking on chicken necks, which are impossible for them to consume at this point. Real food wil be introduced later in the week.)

Some photos of the first episode with chicken necks! First we have Tikka, followed by Bombay (l) and Vindaloo (r).
